The Diocese of Umuahia set to have a saint

Good things to come as Umuahia diocese officially made a bold step towards the cause for the beatification of Msgr. Edward Ahaji.

It took place at St. Finbarr’s Catholic Church Umuahia on 11th March, 2021. The Eucharistic celebration was presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of Umuahia, Most Rev M. K. Ukpong and assisted by the Vicar general, Very Rev. Fr. Gab Kalu, the Diocesan Postulator, Very Rev. Fr. Aloy Nwabekee, Msgr. JohnLoyd Ukaegbu among other priests.

Also present were some of the old boys of Immaculate Conception Seminary Ahiaeke that passed through Msgr. Ahaji.
Delivering the homily, Rev. Fr. Benjamin Nwoko who is a cousin of Msgr. Ahaji highlighted that Msgr. Ahaji led a life of simplicity deep spirituality that is characteristic of sainthood.

In their separate speeches after the Mass, the students who passed through Msgr. Ahaji described the Mbaise born cleric as a man of deep faith and spiritual master.

According to Sir Anthony Chiahulamiro, “Msgr. Ahaji taught us that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. His then, I have never appeared without clothes except in bathroom”.

In his vote of thanks, the Diocesan Postulator Very Rev Fr. Dr. Aloy Nwabekee appreciated the presence of Bishop Ukpong, Msgr. J. Ukaegbu, priests, family members and the lay faithful at Mass.

He encouraged all to seek the intersession of Msgr. Edward Ahaji and report any favour received.
